How long does door lettering take to fit?

Not long on site. A door set with a name and opening hours typically takes under an hour once the glass is clean, and a full window set a few hours, depending on the amount of text and any old lettering to remove.

Can I get a fixed price for window and door lettering in Derry/Londonderry before committing?

Yes. We start from the guide range, £95 to £480 per window excluding VAT, then measure up or look at your photos and artwork. That gives a fixed written price reflecting the real size, materials, access and any design or consent work. You only commit once you accept that price and approve the proof.

How soon after I approve the proof can the work on window and door lettering happen?

Typically within a few weeks, depending on what has to be made. Printed and cut graphics are typically produced sooner than fabricated letters, trays or illuminated signs, which need more fabrication time. If the job needs advertisement consent, fitting waits for the council's decision. We confirm an expected date for Derry/Londonderry once materials are ordered.

Is gold vinyl the same as gold leaf?

No. Gold vinyl is a metallic film cut by machine and applied like other lettering, for a gilded look at lower cost. Gold leaf is real metal applied by hand, with a deeper shine. From the pavement, metallic vinyl with a black outline reads as signwriting.

Do you work across County Londonderry or only in Derry/Londonderry?

Across all of County Londonderry, and the rest of the UK too. Derry/Londonderry is simply one of the places we list, and enquiries from anywhere nearby follow exactly the same steps: photos or a survey, a scaled proof, a written price, then making and fitting once you sign off the design.

Can you match the lettering on our sign?

Usually, yes. Send the font name if you know it, or a clear photo of the existing sign, and we'll match or redraw the letterforms and colour so door, window and fascia look like one set. Vector logo files help too.

Rules for window and glass graphics in Derry/Londonderry

Councils across Northern Ireland do not all view window graphics the same way. Vinyl applied to the inside face of the glass is often outside advertisement control or permitted, although sizeable graphics on a listed shopfront or within a conservation area can face restrictions, which is why we check before printing. Making glass visible is a different issue altogether. Where people could walk into glazing it needs marking; Northern Ireland's building guidance shares that aim, and the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1993 require it at work where necessary. The heights appear on your proof.
