Does the price of lightbox signs in Hoddesdon include VAT?

No. Our guide range of £1,250–£4,800 per lightbox excludes VAT, which is added to the quote. The final figure depends on size, materials, access, removal of existing signage or graphics and the artwork needed, and we confirm it in writing after a survey or once we have checked your files.

Can the existing wiring be reused?

Often the existing supply, switch and timer can be reused, provided an electrician checks them first. New LED drivers usually replace the old control gear inside the box. If the circuit is old or untested, the electrician will advise before connecting to BS 7671.

Can the face be changed later?

Yes, which is one of the main advantages of a lightbox. Flex faces unclip or untension and acrylic faces slide or lift out, so a new design can go in without moving the box. Keep the face dimensions from handover for easy reordering.

Can you work to an opening date in Hoddesdon?

Tell us the date when you enquire and we will say plainly whether it looks realistic. Timescales typically depend on how soon the proof is approved, how long production takes and whether consent is needed, which can take several weeks on its own. We plan around your date where we can, but we do not promise one we cannot control.

Who carries out the work on lightbox signs in Hoddesdon?

The work on site is done by installers working under our contract, and anything that needs making is produced by specialist fabricators. You deal with Smart Signs throughout: we take the enquiry, survey, prepare the design and quote, check consent and coordinate the fitting, so there is one point of contact from first message to handover.

How long does a printed face last?

Several years in most positions, though colours fade noticeably faster on a sunny south-facing frontage. Laminates and UV-resistant inks help slow fading, and reds and yellows usually go first. A box that's easy to re-face keeps future rebrands and refreshes affordable.

Consent for illuminated signs in Hoddesdon

Plan for express consent. In England most internally illuminated and halo-lit signs on a fascia or projecting bracket need it, and deemed consent does not cover illuminated signs in conservation areas, National Parks, National Landscapes, the Broads or areas of special control. The council usually decides within 8 weeks, and consent normally lasts 5 years. Expect questions about brightness: many councils refer to ILP guidance PLG05, which sets maximum luminance by zone, and they expect steady light rather than flashing. We prepare scaled drawings and photo mock-ups for the application, or submit it for you, and an electrician completes the connection to BS 7671 and gives you the certificate.
