How much does door lettering cost?

Door lettering with opening hours has a guide price of £95–£245 + VAT, supplied and fitted, and a full window set £195–£480 + VAT. Gold or metallic vinyl adds a guide £30–£120 + VAT. The price is confirmed once we see photos and wording.

Can you match the lettering on our sign?

Usually, yes. Send the font name if you know it, or a clear photo of the existing sign, and we'll match or redraw the letterforms and colour so door, window and fascia look like one set. Vector logo files help too.

Why is there a price range for window and door lettering rather than one figure?

Because jobs vary. The guide of £95 to £480 per window + VAT spans small, simple work at one end and larger, more involved work at the other. Size, material, finish, access, design time and any consent drawings push the figure up or down. A survey or artwork check lets us fix the price for your job in Hitchin.

Do you cover smaller places near Hitchin as well?

Yes. Our coverage is not limited to Hitchin itself: nearby towns, industrial estates and business parks across Hertfordshire are included too. The process does not change with the postcode. Send photos and approximate sizes, and we will tell you whether a site visit is needed before we can give you a fixed price.

Can people read window lettering at night?

Yes, but it reads differently. Cut vinyl isn't lit, so after dark, with lights on inside, opaque letters can look like dark shapes against the bright interior, whatever their colour. Bold letters stay legible; thin strokes are harder to pick out from the street.

Could the consent process affect the timing of my job in Hitchin?

It can. Not every job needs an application, but where express consent is required the council's decision typically takes several weeks, and fitting typically waits until it is granted. We check this at the start, so the timetable you receive with your quote allows for consent where it applies, along with the proof approval stage.

Rules for window and glass graphics in Hitchin

Two sets of rules can touch glass graphics in England. The first is advertisement control: lettering and graphics on the inside of a shop window are often outside it or allowed, but councils differ, and conservation areas and listed shopfronts can bring restrictions on large graphics. The second is safety. Approved Document K points to manifestation bands at 850–1000 mm and 1400–1600 mm from the floor, and in workplaces regulation 14 of the 1992 Workplace Regulations requires glazing to be marked where needed. We take both into account when we set out the proof, and we check with the council where the building or street calls for it.
