Can the halo be coloured?

Yes. Coloured LEDs can give an amber, blue or brand-coloured halo, and colour-changing LEDs are possible where consent allows. White remains the usual choice because it suits most metals and walls. Keep street-facing light static, as flashing light generally needs specific consent.

Can halo letters be used inside?

Yes, and reception walls suit them well. Indoor letters can be slimmer, with drivers in a ceiling void. A sign well inside the building is usually outside advertisement control, though check if it's visible through glazing. An electrician still makes the connection to BS 7671.

Who carries out the work on halo-lit letters in Thamesmead?

The work on site is done by installers working under our contract, and anything that needs making is produced by specialist fabricators. You deal with Smart Signs throughout: we take the enquiry, survey, prepare the design and quote, check consent and coordinate the fitting, so there is one point of contact from first message to handover.

Will brass halo letters tarnish?

Bare solid brass darkens and spots outdoors over time. A clear lacquer slows this, and coated brass-effect finishes on a steel base are more stable still. Some owners like the aged patina; others want the polished look kept, so decide before ordering.

Will the location in Thamesmead affect the cost of halo-lit letters?

Location is one factor among several, alongside size, material, access equipment and design time. Our guide range is £160–£420 per letter + VAT; any travel, parking or access costs for your site in Thamesmead are included in the written quote we confirm after a survey or artwork check, so you can see them before you commit.

When could work on halo-lit letters go ahead in Thamesmead?

Fitting is typically scheduled once three things are in place: you have approved the proof, the materials are made or delivered, and any consent the job needs has been granted. For many jobs that is typically a few weeks from approval; illuminated or larger fabricated signs typically take longer, and consent decisions run to their own timetable.

Halo-lit letters in Thamesmead

Halo-lit letters are solid-faced fabricated letters with LEDs inside that shine backwards onto the wall, so each letter stands in silhouette against a soft outline of light.

Points in favour of halo-lit letters in Thamesmead

Offices on a Thamesmead business park can use halo-lit names on pale cladding to guide winter-evening visitors to reception.
Even a dark-brick unit in Thamesmead can carry a crisp halo once the letters sit on a pale backing panel.
Older streets in Thamesmead may sit within a conservation area, so we check the council's likely view before design starts.

Consent for illuminated signs in Thamesmead

Illuminated signs are treated more strictly than unlit ones in England. Deemed consent for illumination is limited, and it does not apply at all in conservation areas, National Parks, National Landscapes, the Broads or areas of special control, so most internally lit or halo-lit fascia and projecting signs need express consent from the council. Decisions usually take up to 8 weeks and consent is normally granted for 5 years. Councils commonly assess brightness against the Institution of Lighting Professionals' guidance PLG05, and lighting should be static. An electrician makes the final mains connection to BS 7671. We can prepare the drawings and photos for your application, or submit it for you.
