Window lettering is text or simple logos cut from self-adhesive vinyl, with no background film, applied to glass doors and windows to show a name, opening hours and contact details.
Window and door lettering in Brighouse: the practical benefits
- Drivers and cyclists passing through Brighouse see windows at an angle, so bold letters and short lines help a name register.
- Barbers and cafés on a Brighouse high street need clear opening hours, as many customers pass first and return later.
- Upper-floor offices in Brighouse with a street door can letter the glass with company names, so visitors find the right entrance.

Rules for window and glass graphics in Brighouse
Two sets of rules can touch glass graphics in England. The first is advertisement control: lettering and graphics on the inside of a shop window are often outside it or allowed, but councils differ, and conservation areas and listed shopfronts can bring restrictions on large graphics. The second is safety. Approved Document K points to manifestation bands at 850–1000 mm and 1400–1600 mm from the floor, and in workplaces regulation 14 of the 1992 Workplace Regulations requires glazing to be marked where needed. We take both into account when we set out the proof, and we check with the council where the building or street calls for it.
