Window lettering is text or simple logos cut from self-adhesive vinyl, with no background film, applied to glass doors and windows to show a name, opening hours and contact details.
Points in favour of window and door lettering in Leyland
- Drivers and cyclists passing through Leyland see windows at an angle, so bold letters and short lines help a name register.
- When a Leyland business changes its number or hours, one line of vinyl is swapped rather than the whole door.
- Clinics in Leyland, from dentists to physiotherapists, can show the practice name, hours and phone line clearly on the door.

Rules for window and glass graphics in Leyland
Two sets of rules can touch glass graphics in England. The first is advertisement control: lettering and graphics on the inside of a shop window are often outside it or allowed, but councils differ, and conservation areas and listed shopfronts can bring restrictions on large graphics. The second is safety. Approved Document K points to manifestation bands at 850–1000 mm and 1400–1600 mm from the floor, and in workplaces regulation 14 of the 1992 Workplace Regulations requires glazing to be marked where needed. We take both into account when we set out the proof, and we check with the council where the building or street calls for it.
