Is gold vinyl the same as gold leaf?

No. Gold vinyl is a metallic film cut by machine and applied like other lettering, for a gilded look at lower cost. Gold leaf is real metal applied by hand, with a deeper shine. From the pavement, metallic vinyl with a black outline reads as signwriting.

Is there a typical lead time for window and door lettering in Carrickfergus?

Yes, though it varies with the job. The lead time typically runs from the day you approve the proof, not from the first enquiry, and is typically a few weeks. Survey visits, artwork changes and any consent application sit before that point, so getting photos, sizes and logo files to us early typically shortens the overall timescale.

How much does door lettering cost?

Door lettering with opening hours has a guide price of £95–£245 + VAT, supplied and fitted, and a full window set £195–£480 + VAT. Gold or metallic vinyl adds a guide £30–£120 + VAT. The price is confirmed once we see photos and wording.

Will window cleaning damage vinyl lettering?

Normal cleaning won't. Soapy water, a soft applicator and a squeegee are fine. The risk comes from blades pushed against letter edges and from strong solvents. If your windows are scraped regularly, ask for the lettering on the inside face, out of reach.

Will someone visit my premises in Carrickfergus before quoting?

If the job needs it, yes. For signs fixed to a building, anything illuminated or work at height, we arrange a survey to measure, check the wall and plan access. For window graphics, lettering and many vehicle jobs, clear photos with measurements are often enough, and we only visit if something needs a closer look.

Can I get a fixed price for window and door lettering in Carrickfergus before committing?

Yes. We start from the guide range, £95 to £480 per window excluding VAT, then measure up or look at your photos and artwork. That gives a fixed written price reflecting the real size, materials, access and any design or consent work. You only commit once you accept that price and approve the proof.

Rules for window and glass graphics in Carrickfergus

For glazed shopfronts, doors and office partitions in Northern Ireland, safety comes first. Glass that someone could walk into needs marking so it can be seen; the NI Workplace Regulations 1993 require this at work where necessary, and Northern Ireland's building guidance shares the same aim. The planning side varies by council. Internal window graphics are often outside control or allowed, yet large graphics on a listed shopfront or in a conservation area may be restricted, and the 2015 NI Advertisement Regulations apply to anything that needs consent. We check before you commit.
