Usually because it's calendered film, sun damaged, or both. Cast film is made to stay flexible and tends to peel away in larger sheets within its rated life. Calendered film is stiffer, and after years in the sun it can turn brittle and crack, so it flakes away a little at a time and leaves more adhesive behind.

You'll get clean panels with the adhesive removed, showing the paint as it was under the film. Chips, scratches or dents that the graphics were hiding will be visible again, and some ghosting may show where the film's edges were. A valet or machine polish is usually the finishing step before a sale, lease return or re-wrap.

If the job needs it, yes. For signs fixed to a building, anything illuminated or work at height, we arrange a survey to measure, check the wall and plan access. For window graphics, lettering and many vehicle jobs, clear photos with measurements are often enough, and we only visit if something needs a closer look.

A full wrap typically takes about a day per van, and lettering or part graphics typically take a few hours. Sun-damaged or calendered film that breaks into small pieces can take considerably longer, as can heavy adhesive residue. We'll give you a typical time once we've seen photos of the film's condition.

Fitting is typically scheduled once three things are in place: you have approved the proof, the materials are made or delivered, and any consent the job needs has been granted. For many jobs that is typically a few weeks from approval; illuminated or larger fabricated signs typically take longer, and consent decisions run to their own timetable.
