Tray signs are fascia signs folded from aluminium sheet so the face turns back at the edges into returns, typically 50–75 mm deep, then powder coated and hung on concealed fixings.

Do you need permission for a sign in Llantwit Major?
Deemed or express consent? In Wales the answer depends on the 1992 Control of Advertisements Regulations, as amended, rather than the English 2007 version. A plain, unlit sign on your own business frontage is often allowed without applying, within limits on size and position, but the details differ from England's, and conservation areas call for extra care. If the building is listed, expect to need listed building consent too. We check with the council before you commit to tray signs, and can prepare the drawings and photographs or handle the submission for you.
