A projecting sign is a sign, usually double-sided, fixed at right angles to a building on a wall bracket, so it can be read by people approaching along the street from either direction.
Reasons to choose projecting and hanging signs in Llantwit Major
- When Llantwit Major pavements are busy, fascias disappear behind people and parked vans, but a hanging sign above head height stays in view.
- Upstairs businesses in Llantwit Major, such as salons, studios and accountants, can use a projecting sign at street level to mark a side door.
- With an older frontage, a Llantwit Major pub, café or bakery often suits a traditional painted sign on a scroll bracket.
What projecting and hanging signs cost in Llantwit Major
Pricing for projecting and hanging signs is worked out job by job, but the guide range is £395 to £1,350 per sign + VAT. The table lists typical options. Your figure is confirmed only after a site survey or a check of the artwork you send.
| Item | Guide, ex VAT | Inc. VAT (20%) |
|---|---|---|
| Double-sided panel sign with standard bracket | £395 – £850 | £474 – £1,020 |
| Shaped or painted sign with decorative bracket | £650 – £1,350 | £780 – £1,620 |
Size and shape come first, then the bracket: a scroll bracket costs more than flat bar, and larger signs need stronger brackets and wall plates. Painted finishes, access height, the wall type and any drawings for a highway licence or advertisement consent also affect the figure.
Options for your Llantwit Major project
Traditional scroll bracket
Wrought-iron-style bracket with scrolls, in black or a heritage colour.
Painted timber-style sign
Moulded board in timber or timber-effect aluminium for period frontages.
Shaped symbol sign
Cut to a cup, key or scissors outline, so it reads before the words do.
Do you need permission for a sign in Llantwit Major?
Deemed or express consent? In Wales the answer depends on the 1992 Control of Advertisements Regulations, as amended, rather than the English 2007 version. A plain, unlit sign on your own business frontage is often allowed without applying, within limits on size and position, but the details differ from England's, and conservation areas call for extra care. If the building is listed, expect to need listed building consent too. We check with the council before you commit to projecting and hanging signs, and can prepare the drawings and photographs or handle the submission for you.
