A projecting sign is a sign, usually double-sided, fixed at right angles to a building on a wall bracket, so it can be read by people approaching along the street from either direction.
Good reasons to look at projecting and hanging signs in Welshpool
- Upstairs businesses in Welshpool, such as salons, studios and accountants, can use a projecting sign at street level to mark a side door.
- When Welshpool pavements are busy, fascias disappear behind people and parked vans, but a hanging sign above head height stays in view.
- Visitors browsing Welshpool on foot look along a street rather than at each shopfront in turn, which is exactly the view a projecting sign serves.
What projecting and hanging signs cost in Welshpool
The table shows guide prices for projecting and hanging signs, starting from £395 and reaching about £1,350 per sign. All figures exclude VAT. Your own price is confirmed after we have seen the site or the artwork, so treat these as a starting point.
| Item | Guide, ex VAT | Inc. VAT (20%) |
|---|---|---|
| Double-sided panel sign with standard bracket | £395 – £850 | £474 – £1,020 |
| Shaped or painted sign with decorative bracket | £650 – £1,350 | £780 – £1,620 |
Size and shape come first, then the bracket: a scroll bracket costs more than flat bar, and larger signs need stronger brackets and wall plates. Painted finishes, access height, the wall type and any drawings for a highway licence or advertisement consent also affect the figure.

Do you need permission for a sign in Welshpool?
Wales still uses the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 1992, as amended. The system looks similar to England's, with some signs allowed under deemed consent and others needing express consent from the council, but the details differ, so we check with the local planning authority rather than assume English limits apply. On a listed building, listed building consent is usually needed as well, and works without it can be a criminal offence. We look at your premises before you commit and can prepare drawings and photos for an application, or submit it for you.
