Can I reuse my existing bracket?

Often, yes, if it is sound, sized for the new sign and securely fixed. We check the wall plate, fixings and arm for rust or cracking at survey. A larger or heavier sign than the old one may need a stronger bracket, and we tell you before quoting.

What is the typical timescale for projecting and hanging signs from enquiry to fitting?

A quote typically follows once we have your photos or have surveyed the site, and making and fitting is typically booked a few weeks after you approve the proof. Where advertisement consent applies, that decision has to come through before anything goes up, which can add several weeks. We give you an expected timescale with your quote for Emsworth.

Will a hanging sign swing or squeak?

A sign hung from hooks or chains will move in the wind, which is part of the traditional look. Nylon or brass bushes on the hooks reduce squeaking and wear. On an exposed corner, a fixed blade sign mounted rigidly to the bracket won't swing at all.

How much should I budget for projecting and hanging signs in Emsworth?

As a guide, £395–£1,350 per sign + VAT. Where your job falls in that range depends on size, materials, access height, whether old signage has to come off and how much design work is involved. We confirm a fixed price after a survey or artwork check, before anything is ordered.

Can a projecting sign be illuminated?

Yes, but it becomes a different product with its own consent position. Lit projecting signs use LED modules inside a box or behind halo letters, connected by an electrician, and most need express consent. A small spotlight lighting a painted sign is an alternative, still checked with the council.

Is Emsworth inside your coverage area for projecting and hanging signs?

It is. We work throughout the UK rather than in a single region, so Emsworth and every part of Hampshire are included. Where a survey is needed we arrange a visit; for graphics jobs we can often quote from photos and measurements. Either way, you get a proof and a written price first.

Projecting and hanging signs in Emsworth

A projecting sign is a sign, usually double-sided, fixed at right angles to a building on a wall bracket, so it can be read by people approaching along the street from either direction.

What projecting and hanging signs can do for businesses in Emsworth

Inside a conservation area, a painted timber-style sign in muted colours is usually the easier design to agree for an Emsworth frontage.
Visitors browsing Emsworth on foot look along a street rather than at each shopfront in turn, which is exactly the view a projecting sign serves.
With an older frontage, an Emsworth pub, café or bakery often suits a traditional painted sign on a scroll bracket.

What projecting and hanging signs cost in Emsworth

The figures in this table are guide prices, from £395 to £1,350 per sign, and they exclude VAT. They are there to help you plan. A firm price follows the survey or artwork check and is agreed before any work starts.

Projecting & hanging signs in Emsworth: guide prices, supplied and fitted
Item	Guide, ex VAT	Inc. VAT (20%)
Double-sided panel sign with standard bracket	£395 – £850	£474 – £1,020
Shaped or painted sign with decorative bracket	£650 – £1,350	£780 – £1,620

Size and shape come first, then the bracket: a scroll bracket costs more than flat bar, and larger signs need stronger brackets and wall plates. Painted finishes, access height, the wall type and any drawings for a highway licence or advertisement consent also affect the figure.

Do you need permission for a sign in Emsworth?

Advertisement consent in England comes from the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) (England) Regulations 2007. A sign is either excluded from control, has deemed consent, or needs express consent from the council's planning department. For a plain, unlit sign on your own premises, deemed consent usually applies when characters are 0.75 m tall or less (0.3 m in an area of special control) and the top edge is below the first-floor windows. Conservation areas need more care, and a listed building usually needs listed building consent as well; working without it can be a criminal offence. We confirm the route before you commit, and can prepare the drawings for an application or submit it for you.
