Projecting and hanging signs in Chepstow

Yes, though it varies with the job. The lead time typically runs from the day you approve the proof, not from the first enquiry, and is typically a few weeks. Survey visits, artwork changes and any consent application sit before that point, so getting photos, sizes and logo files to us early typically shortens the overall timescale.

A sign hung from hooks or chains will move in the wind, which is part of the traditional look. Nylon or brass bushes on the hooks reduce squeaking and wear. On an exposed corner, a fixed blade sign mounted rigidly to the bracket won't swing at all.

The work on site is done by installers working under our contract, and anything that needs making is produced by specialist fabricators. You deal with Smart Signs throughout: we take the enquiry, survey, prepare the design and quote, check consent and coordinate the fitting, so there is one point of contact from first message to handover.

Simple shapes read quickest: an oval, circle or rectangle with the name and one symbol. Signs cut to an object, such as scissors or a coffee cup, work well when the trade is obvious from the shape. Keep text short, because people read it while walking past.

As a guide, £395–£1,350 per sign + VAT. Where your job falls in that range depends on size, materials, access height, whether old signage has to come off and how much design work is involved. We confirm a fixed price after a survey or artwork check, before anything is ordered.

Yes, but it becomes a different product with its own consent position. Lit projecting signs use LED modules inside a box or behind halo letters, connected by an electrician, and most need express consent. A small spotlight lighting a painted sign is an alternative, still checked with the council.
