A projecting sign is a sign, usually double-sided, fixed at right angles to a building on a wall bracket, so it can be read by people approaching along the street from either direction.
Where projecting and hanging signs can pay off in Prestatyn
- Inside a conservation area, a painted timber-style sign in muted colours is usually the easier design to agree for a Prestatyn frontage.
- Corner units in Prestatyn gain twice, because a projecting sign on the corner catches people coming from both streets.
- If your Prestatyn street is narrow and fascias are hard to read at an angle, a hanging sign catches shoppers walking towards your door.

Do you need permission for a sign in Prestatyn?
Deemed or express consent? In Wales the answer depends on the 1992 Control of Advertisements Regulations, as amended, rather than the English 2007 version. A plain, unlit sign on your own business frontage is often allowed without applying, within limits on size and position, but the details differ from England's, and conservation areas call for extra care. If the building is listed, expect to need listed building consent too. We check with the council before you commit to projecting and hanging signs, and can prepare the drawings and photographs or handle the submission for you.
