A lightbox sign is a shallow enclosed box with a translucent face and LED lighting inside, so the whole panel, or just lettering routed into it, glows evenly at night.
Practical reasons to consider lightbox signs in Accrington
- Late-opening barbers and cafés in Accrington can use routed faces so only the name glows, for a cleaner look.
- Where an Accrington shop has a long fascia, a flex-faced box spans it without the joins rigid acrylic sheets need.
- When an old fluorescent box above an Accrington shop flickers, an LED conversion can cost far less than a new sign.

Consent for illuminated signs in Accrington
Illuminated signs are treated more strictly than unlit ones in England. Deemed consent for illumination is limited, and it does not apply at all in conservation areas, National Parks, National Landscapes, the Broads or areas of special control, so most internally lit or halo-lit fascia and projecting signs need express consent from the council. Decisions usually take up to 8 weeks and consent is normally granted for 5 years. Councils commonly assess brightness against the Institution of Lighting Professionals' guidance PLG05, and lighting should be static. An electrician makes the final mains connection to BS 7671. We can prepare the drawings and photos for your application, or submit it for you.
