An illuminated projecting sign is a double-sided sign fixed at right angles to the building on a bracket, with LEDs inside or behind it, so people approaching along the pavement can read it.
Why choose illuminated projecting signs for a business in Melton Mowbray?
- On a narrow Melton Mowbray street, people walking along the pavement often see a projecting sign before they can read any fascia.
- A lit roundel tells people a Melton Mowbray pub or restaurant is open on winter evenings, when fascias fall into shadow.
- For a pharmacy or late-opening shop in Melton Mowbray, a lit projecting sign helps people searching the street after dark.

Consent for illuminated signs in Melton Mowbray
Lighting a sign changes the consent picture in England. Under the 2007 Advertisement Regulations, deemed consent for illuminated signs is narrow and is excluded in conservation areas, National Parks, National Landscapes, the Broads and areas of special control; in practice most lit fascia and projecting signs need express consent. Allow up to 8 weeks for a decision, with consent normally running for 5 years. Keep the light static and at sensible levels, with PLG05 the usual reference for brightness, and use a time switch or photocell to control the hours. We check before you commit, can handle the application drawings or the submission, and arrange an electrician for the BS 7671 connection.
