Who carries out the work on illuminated projecting signs in Rickmansworth?

The work on site is done by installers working under our contract, and anything that needs making is produced by specialist fabricators. You deal with Smart Signs throughout: we take the enquiry, survey, prepare the design and quote, check consent and coordinate the fitting, so there is one point of contact from first message to handover.

What can delay illuminated projecting signs in Rickmansworth?

The usual causes are artwork changes after the proof stage, waiting for consent, access arrangements such as a council licence for scaffolding on the pavement, and weather for outdoor fitting. Jobs typically run smoothly once the proof is approved and any consent is in place, but we do not promise dates that depend on things outside our control.

How far can a projecting sign stick out?

There's no single UK figure. It depends on pavement width, clear height, the council's shopfront guidance and the highway authority's view. Lit projecting signs are usually modest, stopping well short of the kerb, and the survey records the pavement width for the drawings.

How much should I budget for illuminated projecting signs in Rickmansworth?

As a guide, £695–£2,250 per sign + VAT. Where your job falls in that range depends on size, materials, access height, whether old signage has to come off and how much design work is involved. We confirm a fixed price after a survey or artwork check, before anything is ordered.

Does the sign need its own supply?

It needs a supply, though not necessarily a new circuit. An electrician usually takes a switched, fused feed from inside the building close to the bracket, often sharing a time switch with your fascia lighting, and certifies the connection to BS 7671.

Are lit signs allowed on listed buildings?

Sometimes, but expect extra scrutiny. You'll usually need listed building consent as well as advertisement consent, and councils may favour halo-lit or externally lit designs and traditional brackets on historic frontages. Cable routes and fixings are planned to avoid damaging historic fabric.

Illuminated projecting signs in Rickmansworth

An illuminated projecting sign is a double-sided sign fixed at right angles to the building on a bracket, with LEDs inside or behind it, so people approaching along the pavement can read it.

Consent for illuminated signs in Rickmansworth

Plan for express consent. In England most internally illuminated and halo-lit signs on a fascia or projecting bracket need it, and deemed consent does not cover illuminated signs in conservation areas, National Parks, National Landscapes, the Broads or areas of special control. The council usually decides within 8 weeks, and consent normally lasts 5 years. Expect questions about brightness: many councils refer to ILP guidance PLG05, which sets maximum luminance by zone, and they expect steady light rather than flashing. We prepare scaled drawings and photo mock-ups for the application, or submit it for you, and an electrician completes the connection to BS 7671 and gives you the certificate.
