Halo-lit letters are solid-faced fabricated letters with LEDs inside that shine backwards onto the wall, so each letter stands in silhouette against a soft outline of light.
Why choose halo-lit letters in Surrey?
- Offices on a Woking business park can use halo-lit names on pale cladding to guide winter-evening visitors to reception.
- At a Woking hotel entrance, brushed steel or brass halo letters read as part of the building's architecture.
- Where a Woking building has pale stone or smooth render, halo lighting shows off the wall rather than hiding it.
Guide prices in Surrey
Guide prices start from £160 and go up to £420 per letter, exclusive of VAT. The breakdown below shows where different sizes and options sit. Nothing is final until we have measured up or checked your artwork and sent a written quote.
| Item | Guide, ex VAT | Inc. VAT (20%) |
|---|---|---|
| Halo-lit letter, 300–600 mm | £160 – £420 | £192 – £504 |
| Typical business name (10–14 letters) | £2,800 – £9,800 | £3,360 – £11,760 |
| Final electrical connection by an electrician | £150 – £350 | £180 – £420 |
Metal and finish matter most: brass, bronze and mirror cost more than painted or brushed. Face-and-halo letters, backing panels, stone drilling and access equipment add to the total.
Consent for illuminated signs in Surrey
Illuminated signs are treated more strictly than unlit ones in England. Deemed consent for illumination is limited, and it does not apply at all in conservation areas, National Parks, National Landscapes, the Broads or areas of special control, so most internally lit or halo-lit fascia and projecting signs need express consent from the council. Decisions usually take up to 8 weeks and consent is normally granted for 5 years. Councils commonly assess brightness against the Institution of Lighting Professionals' guidance PLG05, and lighting should be static. An electrician makes the final mains connection to BS 7671. We can prepare the drawings and photos for your application, or submit it for you.
Options worth considering
Brushed stainless
Grade 304, or 316 near the coast; cool and hard-wearing.
Painted or powder-coated
Any RAL colour; matt black gives the boldest silhouette.
Brass or bronze
Warm faces for hospitality, lacquered to slow tarnishing.
