How far off the wall do halo letters sit?

Usually 25–50 mm. Closer gives a tight, bright outline; further gives a softer, wider glow and makes the letters seem to float. Larger letters generally sit further out. The distance is set on the drawings and fine-tuned on the locators during fitting.

How much should I budget for halo-lit letters in Hailsham?

As a guide, £160–£420 per letter + VAT. Where your job falls in that range depends on size, materials, access height, whether old signage has to come off and how much design work is involved. We confirm a fixed price after a survey or artwork check, before anything is ordered.

Can halo letters be used inside?

Yes, and reception walls suit them well. Indoor letters can be slimmer, with drivers in a ceiling void. A sign well inside the building is usually outside advertisement control, though check if it's visible through glazing. An electrician still makes the connection to BS 7671.

Do you cover smaller places near Hailsham as well?

Yes. Our coverage is not limited to Hailsham itself: nearby towns, industrial estates and business parks across East Sussex are included too. The process does not change with the postcode. Send photos and approximate sizes, and we will tell you whether a site visit is needed before we can give you a fixed price.

Will brass halo letters tarnish?

Bare solid brass darkens and spots outdoors over time. A clear lacquer slows this, and coated brass-effect finishes on a steel base are more stable still. Some owners like the aged patina; others want the polished look kept, so decide before ordering.

Is there a typical lead time for halo-lit letters in Hailsham?

Yes, though it varies with the job. The lead time typically runs from the day you approve the proof, not from the first enquiry, and is typically a few weeks. Survey visits, artwork changes and any consent application sit before that point, so getting photos, sizes and logo files to us early typically shortens the overall timescale.

Halo-lit letters in Hailsham

Halo-lit letters are solid-faced fabricated letters with LEDs inside that shine backwards onto the wall, so each letter stands in silhouette against a soft outline of light.

Consent for illuminated signs in Hailsham

Plan for express consent. In England most internally illuminated and halo-lit signs on a fascia or projecting bracket need it, and deemed consent does not cover illuminated signs in conservation areas, National Parks, National Landscapes, the Broads or areas of special control. The council usually decides within 8 weeks, and consent normally lasts 5 years. Expect questions about brightness: many councils refer to ILP guidance PLG05, which sets maximum luminance by zone, and they expect steady light rather than flashing. We prepare scaled drawings and photo mock-ups for the application, or submit it for you, and an electrician completes the connection to BS 7671 and gives you the certificate.
