Will frosted film stick to textured glass?

Not reliably. Frosted film needs smooth, flat glass to bond fully; on textured or patterned glass it bridges the dips, traps air and soon lifts. If one side of the glass is smooth, the film can usually go on that side instead.

How much does frosted window film cost?

Plain frosted film has a guide price of £32–£48 per m², and film with a cut-out design £45–£68 per m², supplied and fitted, excluding VAT. Small jobs have a £225 + VAT minimum. Your fixed price is confirmed after a survey and design approval.

Do you work across Dumfries and Galloway or only in Stranraer?

Across all of Dumfries and Galloway, and the rest of the UK too. Stranraer is simply one of the places we list, and enquiries from anywhere nearby follow exactly the same steps: photos or a survey, a scaled proof, a written price, then making and fitting once you sign off the design.

Does frosted film look like etched glass?

Very nearly. From normal viewing distances, a good etch-effect film looks like sandblasted or acid-etched glass; up close, the film edge and a slight sheen can give it away. Unlike etching, it goes onto existing glass and can be removed or changed later.

What makes frosted window film more or less expensive?

Size and quantity come first, then the material or film, any lighting, the height of the work and the equipment needed to reach it, and the state of the surface or old sign being replaced. Against that, the guide for a job in Stranraer is £32–£68 per m² + VAT, confirmed after a survey or artwork check.

Could the consent process affect the timing of my job in Stranraer?

It can. Not every job needs an application, but where express consent is required the council's decision typically takes several weeks, and fitting typically waits until it is granted. We check this at the start, so the timetable you receive with your quote allows for consent where it applies, along with the proof approval stage.

Frosted window film is a translucent, etch-effect self-adhesive film that blurs the view through glass while still letting daylight pass, giving the look of sandblasted glass without replacing it.

Rules for window and glass graphics in Stranraer

Two questions, two sets of rules. On whether window graphics count as advertising, Scottish councils take differing approaches; internal graphics are often outside control or allowed, but large graphics on listed shopfronts or in conservation areas can be restricted. On safety, glazing that could be walked into must be marked, which Scotland's own building guidance addresses and which the Workplace Regulations 1992 (regulation 14) require at work where necessary. We check with the council when the building or street calls for it, and set the marking heights out on the proof for frosted window film.
