Flat-cut letters are individual letters and logos cut from a single solid sheet, typically 5–10 mm acrylic, aluminium composite or metal, and fixed flush to a wall or held off it on stand-offs.
What flat-cut letters can do for businesses in Basildon
- Small firms moving into a new Basildon unit can start with flat-cut letters at reception, adding exterior signs once the lease is settled.
- Ground-floor shops in Basildon can mount 10 mm metal letters on stand-offs over a painted fascia, getting depth for less.
- For a Basildon salon or studio on a modest budget, matte black acrylic on a pale wall gives a designed look without fabrication costs.
What flat-cut letters cost in Basildon
The figures in this table are guide prices, from £18 to £65 per letter, and they exclude VAT. They are there to help you plan. A firm price follows the survey or artwork check and is agreed before any work starts.
| Item | Guide, ex VAT | Inc. VAT (20%) |
|---|---|---|
| Flat-cut letter, 300 mm tall | £18 – £65 | £21.60 – £78 |
| Typical reception or fascia name set | £320 – £1,200 | £384 – £1,440 |
| Fitting template and locators | £45 – £120 | £54 – £144 |
Material and thickness drive most of the difference: acrylic and aluminium composite sit at the lower end, solid metal and mirror finishes at the top. Letter count and height, stand-offs, colour matching, the wall surface and access follow, and every price is confirmed after an artwork check and survey.

Do you need permission for a sign in Basildon?
Advertisement consent in England comes from the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) (England) Regulations 2007. A sign is either excluded from control, has deemed consent, or needs express consent from the council's planning department. For a plain, unlit sign on your own premises, deemed consent usually applies when characters are 0.75 m tall or less (0.3 m in an area of special control) and the top edge is below the first-floor windows. Conservation areas need more care, and a listed building usually needs listed building consent as well; working without it can be a criminal offence. We confirm the route before you commit, and can prepare the drawings for an application or submit it for you.
