What is the difference between built-up and flat-cut letters?

Built-up letters are hollow, fabricated with separate faces and returns, so they can be 50–100 mm deep or more. Flat-cut letters are cut from one solid sheet, usually 5–10 mm thick. Built-up letters have more presence and share their construction with illuminated letters; flat-cut letters cost less.

When could work on built-up 3D letters go ahead in Caernarfon?

Fitting is typically scheduled once three things are in place: you have approved the proof, the materials are made or delivered, and any consent the job needs has been granted. For many jobs that is typically a few weeks from approval; illuminated or larger fabricated signs typically take longer, and consent decisions run to their own timetable.

Does the price of built-up 3D letters in Caernarfon include VAT?

No. Our guide range of £55–£165 per letter excludes VAT, which is added to the quote. The final figure depends on size, materials, access, removal of existing signage or graphics and the artwork needed, and we confirm it in writing after a survey or once we have checked your files.

Can you make my logo in 3D?

Usually, yes. Solid logo shapes are fabricated to the same depth as the letters so the sign reads as one set. Fine lines, gradients and small text are better applied to the fabricated face in vinyl or print, and the proof shows the proposed treatment before fabrication.

Can built-up letters go on cladding?

Yes, in most cases. Metal and composite cladding needs a fixing that suits the panel system, such as rivnuts, through-bolts to a backing rail, or a mounting rail behind the letters. We ask the building owner about the cladding before drilling, because some systems restrict penetrations.

Is Caernarfon inside your coverage area for built-up 3D letters?

It is. We work throughout the UK rather than in a single region, so Caernarfon and every part of Gwynedd are included. Where a survey is needed we arrange a visit; for graphics jobs we can often quote from photos and measurements. Either way, you get a proof and a written price first.

Built-up 3D letters in Caernarfon

Built-up letters are three-dimensional letters fabricated, usually from metal sheet, with a face and returns joined into a hollow letter typically 50–100 mm deep, then fixed to a wall or sign on locators.

Do you need permission for a sign in Caernarfon?

Wales still uses the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 1992, as amended. The system looks similar to England's, with some signs allowed under deemed consent and others needing express consent from the council, but the details differ, so we check with the local planning authority rather than assume English limits apply. On a listed building, listed building consent is usually needed as well, and works without it can be a criminal offence. We look at your premises before you commit and can prepare drawings and photos for an application, or submit it for you.
